  Suggestions needed - beginner equipment

  i'm very very new to skiing but am determined to learn!

  rather than battling the line up for the equipment rental each time and to save some money i would like to buy some equipment.

  can anyone suggest an affordable brand/type of ski that would be good for a novice skier.. thanks .

  i have a backcountry access tracker dts avalanche beacon.

  it still works but seems to be lacking a lot of technology of the new beacons.

  i'll share some info on my current beacon and would be interested to hear what people like about their beacons to help with my research.

  wow what a ski the soul 7s are...great in the chutes, groomers and pow.

  decent in the moguls too.. the skis are so popular there has to be a way to make them look different.

  First Time Sport Climbing

  i tried many outdoports for the first time in my twenties and once i found skiing i was sure no other activity was going to top my love of skiing.

  then i tried sport climbing.

  i largely contribute my love of mountain climbing to being able to do it in my backyard - bow valley, squamish and other wonders of western canada..

  Backpacking Checklist

  i made this checklist for some friends that were coming on a weekend backpacking trip with us during the summer in the canadian rockies.

  it can still get down to 10 c at night sometimes which is why i have all the warm closthes.

  i have ended up sharing it with more people new to tent camping and backpacking and thought others might find it useful.
