I love lists! I can take a quick glance then get to work without having to stop to think. Lists are a time saver I have especially found this since having young children. Everyone likes getting in for the car faster to get to the hike or ski hill. Thought I'd share my road trip snack list, I keep it in notes on my phone for quick access when packing to leave.

We have a small Thermos bag we use for the cold food - veggies, dairy, etc. We use a small re-usable grocery bag as the food bag that the cooler bag, water bottles and other snacks all go into. It's easy to move around the car and handles can be tied together so stuff doesn't fall out. I also throw in napkins and a plastic grocery bag for garbage.

I avoid messy food including things like cut up watermelon as it drips all over my toddler and her car seat. I bump up the quantities for the items my husband and I would eat depending on length of trip but I keep our food in separate containers. I like having a huge assortment of snacks in smaller quantities for my toddler since they fill her belly and also keeps her busy!

    Road trip Kid Snack Ideas:
    • Fruit - Apples, Bananas, Berries, Oranges
    • Vegetables - Cucumber, Carrots, Peppers, Snap Peas
    • Seeds and Nuts - Sunflower Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Pistachios, Cashews, Trail Mix
    • Dried Fruit - Raisins, Mango, Apricots
    • Cubed Cheese
    • Treat - anything the kids don't get often like Goldfish and Pretzels
    • Crackers or Rice Cakes
    • Granola bars - I love this recipe and often have them in the fridge
    • Baby food squeeze packs

    Happy Road Trips!

Ha - depends on your sanity in the car! Nothing like sugared up kids to make for a noisy car ride!

Finding healthy snacks on the road can be hard without having to stop and get a bunch of items from a grocery store (if one is available). Smaller / local shops often have more flexibility in putting together a veggie tray or toddler friendly food that isn't on the menu. I've found small restaurants to be very accommodating (cut up some cucumber and carrots) so our little one has something to snack on.
