i'm very very new to skiing but am determined to learn!
rather than battling the line up for the equipment rental each time and to save some money i would like to buy some equipment.
can anyone suggest an affordable brand/type of ski that would be good for a novice skier.. thanks .
You can probably get an 8-pack of ski's at Costco. LOL
I found the first couple of times skiing pretty exhausting, not least because of all the hassle getting the rental equipment. I needed a rest before I'd even skied!
It must be easier to just turn up and go - I guess the level of equipment determines when it starts paying for itself in cost-of-rental savings.
i made this checklist for some friends that were coming on a weekend backpacking trip with us during the summer in the canadian rockies.
it can still get down to 10 c at night sometimes which is why i have all the warm closthes.
i have ended up sharing it with more people new to tent camping and backpacking and thought others might find it useful.
Erm ... did you miss off "team of sherpa's to carry it all" ?
Seriously, very useful - especially for a beginner like me.
It would be great if it could be broken down into a small-bag list of essentials for a day-out trip and then the extra "layers" of equipment necessary for more intense excursions.

That sounds like a great idea - similar things have been started recently in IT for women coders to get together.
I can see how a friendly, safe, testosterone-(stupid)-free zone could be appealing and less intimidating.

wow what a ski the soul 7s are...great in the chutes, groomers and pow.
decent in the moguls too.. the skis are so popular there has to be a way to make them look different.

the snow is melting, the long john’s have been stored away and i’m ready for some hiking!
or at least attempt some hikes in the snow covered mountains.
it’s always a bit of a struggle to find places to hike early spring and it something i often hear people asking about.
What breed of dog is it?
We have a Bichon Shihtzu but she's quite a large energetic version. She's enjoyed the few hikes we've done (I think they love exploring new places) but she struggles if it's too far. A 5k walk broken up is about her limit now and she's not really a climber.
i love lists!
i can take a quick glance then get to work without having to stop to think.
lists are a time saver i have especially found this since having young children.
some of the paint is still wet so excuse us while we're still finishing things off.
