I wrote a generic camping list on another forum page but thought items I bring for my toddler and baby aren't included and don't need to be on everyone's list. Here is a checklist for the kids camping items:

Clothing: going to the mountains can have unpredictable weather so I always bring lots and am very happy I have more than once!

    • Rain gear (muddy buddies are handy)
    • One piece snow suit for baby (my daughter slept in hers twice in her sleeping bag it got so cold at night and babies aren't great at keeping arm in sleeping bags)
    • Warm jacket
    • Quick dry pants (all clothing I bring two extra of each as kids get crazy dirty and wet camping)
    • Pants
    • Shorts
    • T-shirts
    • Long sleeve shirts
    • Underwear
    • Socks
    • Pajamas
    • Swim suit
    • Sun shirt
    • Sunhat
    • Toque
    • Gloves
    • Waterproof boots (rain boots, even winter boots)
    • Runners or my favorite for hot days are Keen sandals (pack a minimum two pairs of footwear in case one gets soaking wet)

    Personal items:

    • Sleeping bag
    • Sleeping mat
    • Special stuffed animal and blanket
    • Toothbrush
    • Toothpaste
    • Baby wipes (even if you don't have a baby, easiest way to clean a kid without a bath)
    • Diapers
    • Soap and lotion
    • Kid medicine (advil), band aids and thermometer

    Eating:

    • Water bottle / sippy cup
    • Baby spoon
    • Plastic bowl, plate
    • Bibs
    • Tons of snacks, active kids are hungry kids
    • Special treat they don't know about to pull out if you need a pick me up

    Entertainment:

    • Old flashlight or headlamp that is "theirs" and you don't care if gets broken
    • Paper, crayons (can use to rub leaves, trace rocks, etc)
    • Shovel and pail
    • Bubbles
    • Glow sticks for at night
    • Toys: little trucks, butterfly net, balls, frisbee, mangnifying glass, etc
    • Bikes and helmet
    • Your imagination - create pretend fires and camp food, search for "treasure" - a hidden item, draw in the dirt with a stick, etc

    Other items:

    • Potty
    • Toilet paper
    • Bags for wet / dirty clothes
    • Garbage bags
    • Bug spray
    • Sunscreen
    • Child sized camp chair
    • Travel high chair
    • Backpack for kids, my toddler lovers her backpack and will carry a snack and water on hikes
    • Bug shelter - this isn't kid specific but makes life with kids 100% easier. We have the MEC hootenanny - great for bug protection, shade and rain. Can't live without.
    • Picnic blanket with rubberized bottom - lets kids lay down to play. Can't live without. .

A sturdy wooden coat-hanger can be put inside a small child's jacket so they can be conveniently hung on a tree while you're busy doing camp stuff.
