I've been skiing since my early 20's and know that learning to ski can be intimidating and challenging. When you learn how to ski you work your muscles and burn more energy than when you can more easily glide down a ski slope. Learning to ski on icy conditions or freezing cold is not fun! I highly recommend both kids and adults wanting to learn to ski or still new at it to make an effort to go during the spring.
You might be thinking - Spring is at the end of the season why go then. A few good reasons...why to go Spring Skiing:
Warm and sunny =
- Soft snow on groomers
- Your warm and happy
- No clouds mean amazing views
- Adults get to finish the day on a patio in sunshine with a cold beer
No fresh powder (rare to have new snow in Spring) =
- Less people
- Shorter lines (or no lines)
- Less people to watch for on the ski runs
- Easier to get a lesson if you want

You need to pack a little different in the spring. Packing for Spring Skiing:
- Sunscreen is important unless you want a crazy goggle tan!
- A change of clothes for after is nice since it's usually too warm to drive in snow pants. I often end the day in shorts and sandals
- It's often nice enough to ski in light gloves, sunglasses and a fleece or light jacket. That means if you haven't invested in ski gear you can likely get away with using what you have in your closet.
